I bought this Ankara clutch from two young designers in a bustling shop in Lagos, Nigeria’s Lekki neighborhood. Ankara fabrics are glamorous, beautifully crafted traditional (“trad”) fabrics used by Nigerian fashionistas to sew custom dresses.  Ankara is also popular in Ghana and throughout West and Central Africa.  The dress styles above display the range of silhouettes used for Ankara pieces.
